Brilliant thoughts and ideas James. As always. But for a lineal thinker like me, there's one thing missing. These days, AI platforms are growing like daisies. Is your system portable or do we dump it into only one AI platform? Both methods have benefits but we lineal thinkers need a finishing line. Only one that works for them alone. Never a choice
Hmm! I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you mean if this system is translatable to other platforms aside from ChatGPT, I'm not quite sure. Though, I'm sure there's a way to do so.
But my personal philosophy is to master one tool before I move on to others. So far, I've only experienced ChatGPT. This is the most flexible and the one I'm most familiar with, so it's what I'm sharing my knowledge on for now. Maybe I'll go and look into other options once I feel like ChatGPT isn't serving me anymore :)
So I'm not sure if this can be dumped on other platforms, though I'm pretty sure it can be. But I won't count in it. 😆 Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts!!
I like this framework, James. Really cool! I can already see if I am willing to put in so much effort in being specific enough up front, how the writing will come up more like me. Also would add your personal writing beliefs (probably can go under the first pointer you mention above) that could help the AI finetune its output further!
James, for a linear thinker ( as so many professionals that follow rule books are) prompts just don't work. We need to work with AI programs that allow us to dig down deep and hold discussions with the AI until our linear (meaning we think in straight lines that focus on the small steps that constitutewhat is stated. And not what some creative thinking mind thinks might possibly be made apply) minds understand the precise concept. Once we understand the base concept we can then extrapolate it in any direction. This is what my recent newsletter articles are explaining.
We linear thinkers simply can't make sense of what-if options if we don't UNDERSTAND the base concept first.
This is what we use AI for. We can't use prompts effectively. When we don't know what we are prompting for.
As an example you wrote a post about finding your Ikigai. I read your post with great interest. Then I started by asking what is an Ikigai. Then I asked what information does it use. Then I asked where would I find that out. Then I needed to know why I would want to know that. Only then did I even consider whether to spend time pursuing the concept of finding my Ikigai.
Then once I derived my Ikigai which took two long Q and A sessions with AI I then had to start over to learn and understand first how to apply my Ikigai to what I was planning. Then yet again to learn how to apply my Ikigai thinking to my new project.
James, all this took me over a week to accomplish. Hours on my laptop using Claude before I knew what my Ikigai was and how to use it.
I started using GPT but moved over to Claude when I saw that it offered Claude 4 in the free version. GPT only offered an earlier version that did not allow deep discussion. I always prompt Claude to ruminate and check several different search engines for different information. I have no issue with rejecting surface level responses that don't help me understand the base concepts. GPT free does not offer deep level conversations. Rendering it inadequate for linear thinkers.
As I say in my newsletter articles, we linear thinkers hold conversations with AI. We don't use prompts. They don't help us.
And we are not few. There are millions of us. Think about all the accountants, lawyers, engineers, architects in the world. We all complete step 1 before we look at step 2. This is linear thinking
Thank you for such a thorough explanation! I feel like I know a little bit more about you, now. And as for the question earlier, I think it's safe to say that right now, only ChatGPT's Pro version can hold all the documents in its memory in the form of a custom GPT or a Project folder.
I feel like there is a way to hold all the info in memory of the advanced versions of Claude, but I haven't looked into it.
But once you've uploaded all the necessary information to personalize your custom GPT, you can hold deep discussions with it, and as it carries the information that reflects "you", it would be like talking to a version your own brain. This way, you can also prompt it like how you usually prompt AI (through in-depth conversations), not just through pre-determined prompts.
I haven't used Claude Pro but it does allow users to set up Projects that can include data for multiple uses. Thus I could set up a Project in Claude Pro and upload a novel plot synopsis, character studies, plot outline, into that. Then have Claude write the full book manuscript. In Claude4. Or do the same thing to hold multiple conversations. Without having to constantly re-upload my original source data. In Sudowrite that I write my novels in, I can set up backstory, character studies, location studies, synopses, plot outlines including story beats. And then write full 100K word manuscripts for a series of 5, 7 or more novels. Then repeat that process as often as I need.
What I'm saying James is that there are now other AI programs out there that can process as much and maybe more than GPT. This is why I asked you whether your system was portable? If it can be made portable then others that don't use GPT may want to use it.

Yes I do. She has quite a lengthy name, EvaLeo The Post reformer. I think I’ll rename her soon though.
EvaLeo The Post Reformer is a cool name. Makes me think like she has a heck of a backstory with that name 😂

Hell yeah man. Awesome to see you evolving your concepts and support of others in this space.
Thanks, brother!! Thank you for the comment! It's a pleasure to read this. I'm trying to evolve to higher level, more valuable ideas day by day.
